“Todd, through his own initiative, worked with the Battalion and Regimental Operations Officers to conduct different types of clandestine missions to capture Iraqi insurgents and prevent them from attacking our base of operations near Fallujah. The battalion depended upon MSgt. Smalenberg’s sound judgement to provide different mission sets as to not set patterns which the insurgents could pick up on.
